How do I set up profiles when more than one probe is connected to the same data logger?
The newer AquaLINK (II) telemetry devices can have up to 5 different probes connected to the same data logger. This necessitates a few additional steps in managing and setting up these probes. For example, the SDI address of each probe needs to be set beforehand (please refer to the following article: TWS- Multiple Probe Setup). Also, during the profile setup stage in AquacheckWeb, a different methodology for allocating the Data ID has to be followed. This procedure is explained below.
Setting up a new profile in AquacheckWeb
All guidelines outlined in the article: How to Setup a New Profile remains the same as before. The only major difference is with the allocation of the Data ID number. The user will still set up a new profile for each of the five probes (connected to the one data logger), but use the naming convention described below to allocate the unique Data ID number:
Hardware
Data ID – The serial number of the telemetry device is still used (for example, 224667), but to distinguish between the different probes that are connected to the same data logger, a numerical extension is added to the Data ID as follows:
First probe – Telemetry ID number with no extension, i.e. 224667
Second probe – Telemetry ID number with ‘’-1’’ extension, i.e. 224667-1
Third probe – Telemetry ID number with ‘’-2’’ extension, i.e. 224667-2
Fourth probe – Telemetry ID number with ‘’-3’’ extension, i.e. 224667-3
Fifth probe – Telemetry ID number with ‘’-4’’ extension, i.e. 224667-4
The above implies that careful recordkeeping of the five individual probe numbers (0 to 4) and each probe's specific location (field or block) must be done to avoid any confusion in data allocation.
